Reading a Book

My parents scheduled a nightly storytime when I was a child. I would get tucked into bed and the next five to ten minutes of that end-of-the-day meant all the world to me.

My parents would read me a book with different character voices and I’d watch the pages come to life.
I plan to have a story time for my children as well.
I think it’s mostly important that the father gets involved during this special time and reads for the child.
With the mother being at home most of the time, the father deserves this period to connect with the little one too.

Benefits From Reading:

Reading to your child is a great way to spend time with your little one and offers many advantages too.

Support cognitive development.

Cognitive development is the emergence of the ability to understand and think, the construction of thought processes, including remembering, problem solving and decision-making, from childhood through adulthood.
Starting from a young age they will learn phonology, pragmatics, semantics, and syntax:
.phonology (creating sounds)
.pragmatics (verbal and nonverbal communication)
.semantics (understanding what words mean)
.syntax (using grammar and putting sentences together correctly).

Developing a special bond with your child.

Children need quality time with their parents. The memories that they will have will help shape their personalities and unique identity.
Children learn their core values from the experiences, knowledge, and skills that they aquire over time.
Parents should be the ones who guide their children to what is meaningful.

Improved imagination and creativity.

Children use their senses to interact with others. Their consciousness and way of thinking reflects how they perceive the world.
Imagination is used to help children control their environment and answer questions they don’t understand.
Reading children books with parents will allow children to practice using their creative minds, provoked by interesting discussions, and reach their highest intellectual ability.

Lifelong love of reading.

Learning to love reading takes time. Let your child meet with different characters, explore new adventures, and learn important lessons through reading.
